A few days ago I installed Crouton on my Chromebook Pixel, after a couple hours of scouring the internet and following several guides. Here’s a summary of the steps that I followed:

  1. Enable dev mode in chrome OS
  2. Install crouton with Ubuntu Trusty + Unity, keyboard, sound and touch support:
  • sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -t unity,keyboard,audio,touch -r trusty
  1. Change resolution and set it on each start (mostly needed for Chromebook Pixel)
  2. Adjust brightness with the `brightness` console command
  3. Switch scrolling direction to natural

Done! Install your favorite linux software, personalize your desktop, enjoy the enhanced performance and extended battery life… :D
